The Heart of our Village since 1911

Tucked in the centre of our vibrant little village, Clunes Coronation Hall has been the beating heart of the community for over a century. Built by locals and run by locals, the Hall is a proud not-for-profit venue that exists purely for the benefit of our community.
From Weddings to Workshops, Yoga to Christmas Carols, Music, University of the 3rd Age, monthly Taco nights – the Hall plays host to the full rhythm of life in Clunes. There is always something happening behind the heritage doors.
More than just a building, Clunes Coronation Hall is where connections are made, stories are shared, and memories are created.
History
The first settler of Clunes is known to have taken up land in 1880.
A small town emerged just a few years after that. An early timber hall was built in the late 1880s and this was replaced with the Coronation Hall in 1911 as it opened on Coronation Day.
This was the day George V and Mary of Teck were crowned king and queen, 22 June 1911. George V became king on 6th May 1910.
The galvanised iron steep pitched roof of the hall and before air conditioning it had rotating air vents along the roof ridge for ventilation.
It was opened by the President of Byron Shire Council. The first Anglican services and those of the Presbyterians were held in the Clunes Coronation Hall.
